THE ART SUPPLIES I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT

There are a number of Art supplies that I hold onto with dear life!
My brushes I have had since I first opened up a proper sketchbook as part of my Art GCSE back in 2009. Scary stuff! They have been with me ever since, such loyalty! They are indeed, however, fucked up. LOL! The exterior paint is coming loose, and they have seen better days for sure!
I don't like to have a heavy weight to my paintbrushes, but also nothing too big or small... just right, some might say! Probably why I haven't replaced these!
Although, I don't tend to have any art supplies I cannot live without, I do, however, tend to have a wander around shops to have a look and feel with regards to potential art matches. I will rarely buy any Art supplies online because of this.
I am not impartial to a Winsor and Newton sketchbook though for my watercolour and acrylic paintings!
Here are the run down of the shops in Dorset that I tend to gravitate towards to create my Dorset Art!
Where to shop for Art supplies in Dorset:
Frank Herring & Sons
Located: 27 High West Street, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1UP
This shop offers an extensive amount of Art supplies. However, these do sometimes come with a price tag! The watercolour section is my favourite!
Steve Bane Fabrics
Located: 19 High West Street, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1UW
Great little shop which offers a broad range of fabrics, threads and accessories. I normally gravitate towards the bargain bin or the threads for my art creations. Believe you can also order some supplies through their website. I have used a range of these materials and threads, for a number of my embroidered Art works.
The Range
Located: 10 New Bond Street, Weymouth, DT4 8LY
I know, I am one of them.... Although, I do try and tend to buy locally and independantly, I do however, like to rave about the range of frames, these guys offer, along with the arts and crafts section... Super cheap and it's convienent.. These are dotted all over the place, including one in Dorchester. I, however, tend to gravitate towards the Weymouth branch as it's closer and bigger!
The Range - Furniture, Bedding, Curtains, Crafts, DIY, Garden & More
Art Supplies in Dorset
There you have it, all the places I browse around to shop for my Art supplies. I enjoy looking for those bargains. In particular, the Range supply ex stock from the local Wilko which shut down a few months back. This stock is less expensive and is of great quality. Something to keep an eye out for!
Charity shops also boast a range of items, which have either been donated or removed from clothing that couldn't be sold, like buttons, zips and feature pieces.
Some of my artwork has highlighted this, which can be found on my instagram page here: Jade Edge (@jadeedge.landscapeartist) • Instagram photos and videos
Keep an eye out for some of my pieces that highlight the need for reuse and recycle.
Love you lots!
Keep safe,
Jade
